On 12th September, ForumCC Tanzania convened a group of young leaders to explore the intersection of digitalization, innovation, and sustainable climate action. This dynamic session brought together passionate youth voices, whose valuable insights are expected to influence local strategies while contributing to global climate discussions.
The event was especially timely as the world increasingly recognizes the role of technology and innovation in addressing climate challenges. The young leaders discussed a range of ideas on how digital tools can help track, manage, and mitigate climate impacts. They also explored how new technologies can empower local communities, drive environmental accountability, and encourage the adoption of sustainable practices.
Following this insightful forum, participants engaged in lively debates during the #AheadCOP29 session. These debates focused on whether innovation might positively or negatively impact sustainability. Participants were divided into groups to take on different roles as opposers, proposers, and neutrals, simulating real-world negotiation scenarios. The engaging discussions offered a unique opportunity for participants to understand the complexities involved in climate negotiations and the importance of balancing innovation with long-term sustainability goals.
